Inspiration comes from everywhere. From the lush vistas of island life to the distressed and edgy feel of urban spaces, my graphic and web designs are created in response to the world around me. They can be playful and fantastical or minimalist and modern, but each one tries to capture the imagination in a powerful and organic way. As a Los Angeles native with a background in fine arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography), five years of Maui living, and eventually a return to the bustling city of LA, I have been fortunate to draw from such varied experiences, and as a result, my style continually evolves.
For the last ten years, I have worked on projects that include graphics for print media, advertising campaigns, branding projects, and web design. Whatever the project and whatever the budget, my process remains consistent. I work closely with the client to understand the specific needs and goals of the project, along with the look and feel that the client wants to capture.
Only after listening to the client does my own creative process begin, often away from the computer at first. I collect imagery, incorporate unexpected materials, draw by hand, experiment with typography, pursue any artistic and conceptual avenue to create something beautiful and impactful for the client. Once a visual direction has been chosen, it must then be translated into graphic images and web design. From the project’s inception to the final product, I oversee all elements of the process, working with printers, programmers and vendors to ensure quality control.
